This page will discuss the following:
Chapter 1 - Introduction
I did not create most software mentioned here! If you have a question aboutany of these programs, please try to contact the author first. I won'tbe able to provide more information than is included with the product!
Supaplex Cracker
For the software that I did write (or helped write) there is abuglist available. It mentions known bugs to thesoftware. You should check it out before reporting bugs to me.
Chapter 2 - The game itself
If you are new to Supaplex, and want to download/install it, please read theDownload and Install page instead.
- supaplex.zip (250 kB, 02 Jun 1996)
If you are new to Supaplex, and want to download/install it, please read the Download and Install page instead.
The game Supaplex. This zipfile is adapted to make installing the game easier for you. Note that if you don't know how the game works, you might want to check out the Download and Install page, or see the README.TXT file in the zip.
The game was NOT written by me, but by the real authors, listed in the credits. (Who made Supaplex?) - sp_org.zip (230 kB, 02 Jun 1998)
This file is only for those of you who want the original (1991) version of the game (if you have DOS or Windows.) Most people DO NOT want to download this file.
This version requires codes to start the game. I can not provide these codes for you. If you don't have the codes, this version will be useless to you.
This is the ORIGINAL game Supaplex, as it was distributed on disk in 1991. For those of you who really want it (you don't need it.) - spfix63.zip (83 kB, 23 Mar 1999)
If you already have Supaplex, but not the SpeedFix (or an old version of it) you should download this file.
Note that this is NOT a standalone program. You need the game Supaplex for it to work!
For help with installing this file, please refer to Chapter 2.2 of the Supaplex Help.
The SpeedFix fixes bugs in the original (1991) Supaplex game and adds useful features. It was written by Herman Perk and me (adapted from the original game). The latest version fixes the joystick problem, adds a new way of naming recorded demo's, automatic attaching of signature to recorded demo's, and lots more bugfixes. See documentation (spfxi63.doc) for more information about this.
Buglist. - infotron.hqx (1781 kB, 24 Mar 1997)
If you have a Macintosh, this is the file for you.
For help with installing this file, you are on your own, since I have no experience with Macintosh machines.
This is Infotron, very similar to Supaplex, only this program runs on a Macintosh in stead of a PC (DOS). I don't have a MAC myself, so I don't know how to use it (*.HQX files should be no problem for MAC owners). There is an alternative graphics set available too (MAC only).
Note you may need a 'slow' Mac to play it, since it seems to be running fast on fast Mac's (you can still try it though). A quote I got from a player: 'I got a LC630, which is the fastest mac among the LC familly. I guess maximum mac speed is LCII or LC3 to play the infotron. LC630 uses 68040CPU and I think infotron is adequite on the 68030CPU.'
See also the author's website at http://delver.org/games.html. - Supaplex for Amiga
If you have a DOS or Windows machine, just use the version at the top! However, if you want to play the Amiga version which is almost identical you can try this one.. More instructions available by clicking on the link. (Please don't ask me about it, as I know nothing that isn't already mentioned there.)
Chapter 3 - Clones
In this section, Supaplex clones are listed. Please be aware these areusually technically illegal, though it's unlikely there will be any problemswith them. Only true clones are listed: Those that (try to) achieve 100%Supaplex compatibility.- MegaPlex. MegaPlex is a Supaplex clone that runs in Windows and is fully Supaplex compatible (i.e. you can play the same levels, and view the solutions). It may solve graphics- and other problems you might have with the 'good old' SpeedFix version. It does not have all familiar features the SpeedFix has, but it's still very much worth checking out. Thanks to Frank Schindler! One comment: recordings which use 'bugs' (the squares with occasional lightning) may not always play back correctly in this version.
- WinPlex. This one tries to be compatible to Supaplex and does a reasonable job. It's not 100% compatible but should still be enjoyable. I think it requires DirectX 7, but since the website is in Russian (so is the game) I am not sure. Enjoy!
Chapter 4 - Level editors
- supa250_setup.exe (701 kB, 15 Dec 2003)
Recommended for Windows 95 or better
If you run Windows, this is the recommended editor for you. It has loads of options like special paint tools (open or filled box, selection and copying, etc.) editing the graphics and player information, and loads more. Works well and has online help to explain everything. Made by Toli Cuturicu. - spedit32.zip (78 kB, 28 Aug 1996)
Recommended for DOS
The 'original' Supaplex level editor (VGA) v3.2. This editor uses Mode-X graphics in DOS, so there is a small chance it will not work on your machine. Should work in most Windows environments as well, but you may then be better off with a dedicated Windows editor (see above). This one was made by myself (Maarten Egmond).

Other editors
- aspedit.zip (39 kB, 23 Jan 1996)
A Supaplex level editor (textmode) made by Gert-Jan de Vos. - slb12.zip (17 kB, 17 Sep 1996)
The Supaplex Level Builder v1.2, a textual editor to create your own Supaplex levels with, written by Colosoft. Not well documented, but that's being worked on. Homepage: click here. - supapled.zip (40kB, 5 Dec 1996)
This is yet another level editor. It requires EGA graphics, and uses a mouse. A handy feature from this one, is that you can edit the additional data in the level (e.g. gravity ports) if you know where it is, and the author didn't. There is a table of values which you can edit for that. This editor was made by Jacopo Vettori (jacopo@galactica.it). - supamigo.zip (29 kB, 27 Feb 1997)
And another level editor. This one uses text mode, and a special font to make the objects clear. The main disadvantage is that the help is in Russian (well, if you can read Russian..), though the editor is fairly easy to use (you don't really need much help). Author is Goikhman Mikhael. - supaed06.zip (96 kB, 9 Jun 1997)
You wouldn't believe it! Another Supaplex Level editor. This one is for Windows 95/NT, and runs best at 800x600xlots of colors. A bug will probably make the graphics almost black on resolutions other than 800x600. It should be fixed in the next version. The editor is completely in Italian, except the README, but that doesn't give too much information about it. An english version should be made sometime, but I don't know when. Still, it's a good editor (you get to see the whole level, in stead of just a part of it, and you can use the mouse easily to do everything). Have fun with it if you know Italian, or are not afraid of it! Homepage: click here. - supedit.zip (73 kB, 11 Jul 1997)
I know it's incredible.. Another editor. This one is for Windows 95/NT, and in addition to supedit.zip, it requires three files which might already be on your system (which saves you a lot of downloading time). Please check first (now) if you have these three files before downloading them. Due to diskspace, I had to delete them from here, so you can use the links below to use ftpsearch to find them at a site near you, or check out the homepage of this editor to find them.Homepage: click here. - supaleve.zip (19 kB, 25 May 1998)
Yet another level editor. This one is quite small, and works in textmode. Enjoy! - sedit.zip (42 kB, 2 Mar 1999)
Another small level editor. Have not seen it myself, so you check it out. Kaupo Erme made it. - ledit.zip (22 kB, 16 Jun 1999)
This is a textmode level editor. It's a golden oldie, but just recently released to the public. Very simple editor, though the keys used take some getting used to. Made by Tuukka Jurvanen. - tim_edit.zip (15 kB, 4 Nov 1999)
This is another textmode level editor. Made in 1992, but just recently discovered. If you're a programmer, download it - It includes the complete C source code! Made by Humble Tim. - spdat.zip (250 kB, 6 Oct 2000)
This editor can edit Supaplex .DAT files. It's not a complete level editor, but allows you to edit options like the number of infotrons needed and the advanced port options (gravity, freeze zonks). Make by Mark Zwaneveld. - sped.zip (282 kB, 6 Aug 2001)
This is a 'normal' level editor created by Mark Zwaneveld. It runs in DOS and is completely graphical. Easy to use (a help screen is shown at the start of the program) which is always very helpful.
Chapter 5 - Miscellaneous software
- cheatgfx.zip (31kB, 26 Jan 1999) This is a changed graphics set for Supaplex, that allows you to see bugs even when they're not active, etc. Of course this is cheating, but who cares anymore.. For more info, see the included documentation.
- supalevl.zip (3 kB, 14 Jan 1996)
This is a BASIC program which will make textual screenshots of the Supaplex levels. Made by Herman Perk. - splst200.zip (33 kB, 29 Mar 1996)
You can now edit the PLAYER.LST file (player name, skipped levels, playing time, etc.) with this program made by W. Terlouw. Usually, this is called cheating. (How can I cheat?) - spshw402.zip (137 kB, 26 Jan 1998)
SupaShow v4.02 is another Utility from Herman Perk which shows the Supaplex levels in miniature format on screen, and allows playing and editing of the levels directly from this program. This time, there is no special update version, so download this one. (Bug fix since 4.01: special ports would not be displayed correctly.)
NOTE: The very first line of the file SUPASHOW.INI must be edited with any common text editor because it still refers to SPFIX61 in stead of the current version SPFIX62. - supasong.zip (75 kB, 20 Oct 1996)
The Supaplex Song available in S3M format. Download it to get thoses memories back. You can email Miguel (author) with your comments at al764516@acade01.mty.itesm.mx. - supaplex.mp3 (4.5 MB, 9 May 1999)
The Supaplex song available in MP3 format. This is really what the original song sounds like! Thanks to Miraesoft (http://www.miraesoft.com). - supaplex.mp3 (4.6 MB, 21 Oct 2006)
Another version of the song. This is the Amiga sound, which is also pretty close to the DOS version with a SoundBlaster (if I recall the sounds correctly from 15 years ago!) The sound quality is a little bit less than the other version, but hey, that's what life was like back then! - spsig11.zip (10 kB, 6 Jan 1997)
Supaplex signatures are basically plain text files. You can add your personal signature to your Supaplex demo's with this program. It helps people know who recorded the solutions when they use them. Become famous! Use it if you ever record solutions. It can also be used to see how long your solutions/demos take, so you can compare them with the entries in the hall of fame. Version 1.1 is made for the SpeedFix v5.3 or higher, and will display the time according to the slowest speed using during play (record), in stead of the time it takes at default speed. - junglemur.hqx (486 kB, 14 Feb 1997)
(ONLY for MAC owners!) This should be an alternate graphics set for Infotron. Again, this can only be used on a Macintosh. It's not for DOS Supaplex! - sprites.zip (31 kB, 26 Nov 1997)
The sprites from Supaplex in GIF format. All the moving and static sprites should be included. Thanks to Herman Perk. - spicons.zip (8 kB, 26 Jan 1999)
Some windows icons for Supaplex-related software. You can use them for the shortcut to Supaplex, if you have made it, or for your favorite level editor, etc. - sp_cd.zip (637 kB, 21 Apr 1998) Thanks to Herman Perk, we now have access to the Supaplex CD that is available in some places. It contains a PDF document, and Supaplex adapted for harddisk installation. The SpeedFix is still better of course, but if you are a die-hard fan of Supaplex, you might want to have this (It's not the complete CD: The acroread programs are not in this zip)
- org_doc.zip (282 kB, 02 Jun 1998)
This zipfile contains 5 pictures, scanned versions of the original documentation that was included with my copy of the game I bought in 1992. (Included is the English version and a picture, I've left out the entry codes and the German version.) - org_box.zip (433 kB, 02 Jun 1998)
This zipfile contains 2 pictures, scanned versions of the original box (top and bottom) that my copy of the game was in. - splaunch.zip (136 kB, 02 Jun 1998)
This zipfile contains SpLaunch which will allow you to use command line options for the SpeedFix from within Windows 95 easily. - shack.zip (6 kB, 11 Oct 1998)
This is a small cheating utility for Supaplex. It allows you to change up to which level you have played, and how much time spent. The two disadvantages are that it will overwrite the first player in the list, and that a file SUPAPLEX.EXE must be present (if you use the speedfix, you will have to copy it to SUPAPLEX.EXE) - graphics.zip (3 kB, 24 Feb 1999)
A small ZIP-file that allows you to easily get to the graphics from Supaplex, if you can edit/view .LBM files. It seems just the headers are 'missing' from the supaplex graphics, so this ZIP contains a batchfile that copies those headers in front of the datafiles so they are legal .LBM files. - supasave.zip (17 kB, 11 Apr 1999)
Supasave is a program which aims to provide an easy way to deal with supaplex demo recordings. It deletes demo's which don't solve a level, it copies the fastest solutions to a separate directory. Created by Frans Meulenbroeks. - gif2dat.zip (225 kB, 05 Nov 2000)
Gif2Dat enables you to modify the .DAT files included with Supaplex. It converts GIF files to DAT for you. Not very easy to use, but you can use the example.gif that is included and work from there. Made by Mark Zwaneveld. - spe1.exe (164 kB, 27 Aug 2000)
You can use this program to edit any Supaplex player file. Of course this is usually called cheating, but may be exactly what you want! The file is a self-extracting installer, so just run it after downloading. - dosbox_sp32bit.exe (1856kB, 3 Jan 2010)
This is an installer with DOSBox and Supaplex combined, for 32-bit Windows operating systems. This is easier to do that installing DOSBox and Supaplex yourself, but is not guaranteed to work. - dosbox_sp64bit.exe (1856kB, 3 Jan 2010)
This is an installer with DOSBox and Supaplex combined, for 64-bit Windows operating systems. This is easier to do that installing DOSBox and Supaplex yourself, but is not guaranteed to work.
